we survived - home sweet home Texas

After the LONG 950 mile road trip to Atlanta, Georgia and another LONG 950 mile road trip back home yesterday, we survived. We're still breathing, barely. ;-) I feel pretty much like a zombie. My hair is unwashed and a nappy mess and I'm just wearing some mom jeans and a Pirana Joe t-shirt. The good thing is my Christmas is down, our bags are all unpacked and put away, it was like Christmas all over again because we finally got to get all of our gifts out of boxes and bags. I would do it all over again in a heart beat! We had the best time at Mom & Dad's house with everyone for a full 10 days. It was wonderful. Austin and Kinley loved it, we had quite a few date nights, lots of shopping, and tons of good food! Mom even washed every piece of laundry for me before we left and folded it in laundry baskets. It was wonderful to come home and not have any dirty laundry to do. Thank you Mom & Dad for everything!! You're the best!!

We celebrated New Year's Eve together and on New Year's day we celebrated with some amazing king crab legs, cilantro lime shrimp, baked potatoes, and a blueberry brie.
We left early on Monday morning - 3:30am (eastern time) and the kids were wide awake! We were completely packed from floor to ceiling.
Doc and I traded off driving. It wasn't near as bad driving during the day verses in the middle of the night like we attempted to do on the way there.
I grabbed my pillow and took a nap! It isn't near as bad when you leave in the early morning. I love leaving super early, it makes the trip feel that much shorter.
The kids were both perfect! They slept for a while, would watch movies, play with their new games, and ate.
It was a pretty good trip home! We made it last night at 8:00pm. We had to stop in a small town 100 miles out and had some Mexican at a little local restaurant.
Austin had school this morning, so there wasn't any relaxing today and laying around. Kinley was up first, so I quickly got her dressed and she brushed her teeth. She's getting so big. She steps right up on the step stool, grabs her toothbrush out of the drawer and brushes her teeth!
We were a few minutes late today since *I* had to get ready! ;-) They were all excited to go. Kinley even asked several times, "backpack" because she wanted to wear hers too.
Aunt Mallory bought Kinley this adorable tiara and 3 pairs of high highs to play dress up with. She's such a girly girl. She LOVED wearing her tiara and having Austin and I putting the shoes on her. Aunt Mallory, she loves it!!
We have so many new toys, our play room is starting to look like a toy store! As I'm sure many of yours are too. It is so much fun to have all of these new toys to play with!!
