Friday at home: food

We've been running non stop the past week. Actually, we are always busy and have plans most days except Monday's. It was so nice to be able to relax and stay in pajamas until noon today! Kinley is finally getting to nap in her own bed. The past few days she has been napping on the go for like, 30 minutes total. She then, refuses to nap at all the rest of the day. And believe me, she knows that 8:00pm sharp is bedtime, not 7:00 or before 8.

Last night these two were snuggled up beside me in the big chair with blankets. Austin still wants to be able to hold her. :-) He always says, 'she is my Kinley!" He loves her. I'm quite sure she loves him too. ;-) Since the day she was born he has been so protective of her. The first time he met her he said, "MY BABY!"

We just stayed around the house today and relaxed. It was so nice!! I love my days out, but I also need days where we do nothing but stay home. I bought all of that produce yesterday and I wanted to be able to 'cook' it. I love ready to go snacks and food to just heat up and eat. Otherwise, I'm in the pantry eating chips. ;-)

I bought two big bunches of asparagus yesterday. I looked up a few recipes on allrecipes.com and found one with a ton of reviews. Just olive oil, butter, and garlic cloves chopped up. Saute for 10 minutes or so until you get it to the tenderness you prefer.

It's funny I used to hate asparagus. Like couldn't stand it! I tried it once when I was young and loved it. Same thing with brussel spouts. Love them! I'm the only one in my family that will probably even eat them. But, more for me!! I did chop them small and put some in my ground chicken fried rice last night and no one even noticed. ;-)

Of course my favorite summer salad - cucumber. I just put cucumber and red onion in it today. I cover it with vinegar, olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. mmmmm....

I bought a ton of avocados last weekend because they were so cheap. Yes, living in Texas we have the luxury of getting to purchase avocados cheap. I love guacamole! My kids love it too. I made a big bowl of it and we will just snack on it!

While I was in the kitchen making my 'snack stuff' Kinley was going through her daddy's liquor cabinet! I can't keep this girl out of it. She is constantly in it. I hope that this changes the older she gets. ;-)

I have empty laundry baskets!! All of my laundry is done. woohooo! I always try to get it done on Friday's before the weekend so we aren't glued to the house doing laundry and chores all weekend. I have been better about my laundry and I now do a couple of loads a day. That way it doesn't pile up on me and I have Mt. Everest in my foyer.

Both of my kids are in bed - one is napping, and the other one is having quiet time watching a movie. Oh, I love days like this! I'm done with my laundry, I could mop the kitchen floor... BUT, I think Pinterest would be more fun! Heck, I might even see what's on TV. ;-)

Enjoy your weekend!!! Valentine's Day is Tuesday! I have Austin his little Valentine's gift, but nothing for my girl. I think I will get her some gummy bears and a swimsuit for summer. ;-)
